Widespread raids on blade mafia


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a bid to rein in illegal money lenders, a wing named ‘operation blade’ conducted widespread raids Wednesday morning linked with blade mafia.

Lakhs were recovered in the raids conducted at 21 houses in the capital city. It has been reported that 26 lakhs were seized in the raid. Signed blank cheques, documents and cash counting machines were recovered in the raid.

Raids were conducted on the houses of 21 blade mafias and goondas Gundukad Sabu, Puthenpalam Rajesh, Kodeeswaran Sukumaran of Karamana, Edavakkod Vikraman, Thirumala Manoharan, Madhavan Nair of Ambalamukku, Harikrishnan of Karamana, Uthaman of Peroorkada etc.

Gundukad Sabu and Puthenpalam Rajesh have been arrested after the raid.

The police have seized Rs 2 lakhs and many signed blank cheques, promissory notes and documents from Sabu’s house. Rs one lakh and 15 signed cheques and other documents were confiscated from Puthenpalm Rajesh’s house.

More documents and money were seized from Kodeeswaran Sukumaran’s house.

Assistant commissioners Haridas, Mohanan, Reji, Bijoy amd many circle inspectors are in the team. Raids which started at 5 am early morning are still continuing. City police commissioner P Vijayan said many will be arrested after the raid.
