THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A gang of miscreants hacked a RSS leader to death. The RSS have called for a hartal in Thamalam in protest against the attack. A large contingent of police is camping in the area as it has been alleged that CPM activists are behind the attack.
Police suspect the hands of sand mafia behind the attack. The dead has been identified as Vinumon (36), son of Divakaran. The incident happened early Wednesday morning at Trivikramamangalam.
Reji alias Madhusoodanan told police that Vinumon received a call that police are coming while they were loading sand into the lorry. The gang in bikes hacked while the two reached Trivikramamangalam after the call. Reji fled to safety. The body has been shifted to the mortuary of the medical college hospital.
