CBSE board exams turn more 'student-friendly'

NAGPUR: CBSE has decided to introduce the 'open book exam' concept whichwill be called the 'Pre-Announced Test' (PAT) for its board exams for all Std X subjects and some key ones of Std XII.

It will be implemented from academic year 2013-14.

Four months before the exam, students will be sensitised of the test they will appear for. The passage would be taught and analysis of a range of relevant questions that could be asked will be done. On the day of the CBSE exam, PAT will not produce the passage, but there will be questions based on it.

A formal declaration with complete details regarding the new system is expected to be made in December this year.

It's still vague how the board will put into practice PAT for Mathematics with the formulae and values.
