Chavara award for Kalam

KOCHI: Former President A PJ Abdul Kalam has been adjudged winner of the Chavara Samskriti Award instituted by the Chavara Central Secretariat in memory of Fr Kuriakose Elias. The award comprises Rs 2.22 lakh, a plaque designed by artist Gayatri Ashokan and a citation. Addressing a press conference here, literary critic M K Sanoo said that Cardinal Mar George Alencherry will present the award at a function to be held at Sacred Heart’s College, Thevara, on September 6 at 6 pm. The jury committee chaired by Sanoo and Fr. Paul Thelakkat, literary critic M Thomas Mathew, and K S Radhakrishnan as its members adjudged the winner. Writer John Paul was the convener of the jury.
