IUML activists attack hospital in Kannur



KANNUR: A group of suspected Muslim league (IUML) activists attacked the Thaliparamba Cooperative Hospital in the early hours of Friday and damaged the window panes, glass doors and ten cars.


According to the police, a ten member unidentified gang, who had covered their faces with masks, jumped the compound walls of the hospital at 0210 hrs and ransacked and pelted stones, damaging more than 50 window panes, frame and glass of an entry door. They also damaged around ten cars which were parked inside the hospital compound.


It was in this hospital, controlled by the CPI (M) that the conspiracy to murder Abdul Shukkoor was allegedly hatched by party leaders, following which Jayarajan was arrested on August 1. Police said the law and order situation was under control, However, isolated incidents of attacks were reported in the district.
