Kerala celebrates Independence Day

Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, Aug 15, 2012:  Chief Minister Oommen Chandy hoisted the national flag and took the salute at the Independence Day parade which had contingents of Police, Excise, Fire and Rescue Services, Border Security Force, students of Sainik School, Scouts and Guides and NCC cadets at the central stadium here on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister also read out his Independence Day message to the gathering. He gave away medals to the recipients of the President’s Vishishta Seva medals, Jeevan Raksha Pathaks and Chief Minister’s medals on the occasion.
