MANNAR: A goonda gang hacked a sub inspector and a civil police officer disrupting their mission to seize spirit. Mannar sub inspector S Sreekumar and civil police officer Prathap Chandran sustained injuries in the attack. The incident happened Tuesday morning at 7.45 am.
A six-member team including the sub inspector reached the house of one Rajan of Budhanoor on a secret tip-off, for the raid. Sajesh, the civil police officer, first reached the house for a drink. The mafia identified him and assaulted him brutally. The other members of the team standing outside immediately surrounded the house.
Almost ten persons of the goonda gang came towards the team with swords and seeing it, they had to withdraw from the place.
The two sustained injuries while obstructing the attack. The two were immediately admitted at a private hospital.
Rajan is an accused in many cases including murder. The police have taken two into custody in connection with the incident.
