NEW DELHI: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari here to discuss the progress of ongoing road and infrastructure projects in the state.
The meeting comes after Vijayan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here ahead of the fifth governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog slated to be held later in the day.
Nitin Gadkari clarified that the Centre won’t show any discrimination to Kerala. Later while the chief minister said that the meeting was satisfactory, the Union Minister said discussions delved on crisis related to National High way expansion.
“The crisis is mainly over acquiring land for building roads. In Kerala, the expense for land acquisition is two to three times more than that in other states. The road will be expanded from two-line highway to six line highway. A discussion was held on how to resolve this. The state team had also forwarded it suggestions. A solution will be worked out in the next meeting,” Gadkari said.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs and for Parliamentary Affairs V Muraleedharan and State Public Works department minister G Sudhakaran and Chief Secretary Tom Jose were among the Kerala team that visited Modi and Gadkari.
