KOCHI: The Kerala High Court Wednesday rejected the plea against the appointment of former DGP Winson M Paul as the chief information commissioner and other commission members.
A bench led by Justice Muhammed Mushtaq said the appointment was as per procedures. The court also decided not to interfere in government’s decision. Somanathan Pillai, a native of the capital city, approached the high court questioning the appointment of Paul as the chief information commissioner.
The government produced the documents related to the case in the court. When the case was considered earlier, the court had ordered to maintain status quo. Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan also the selection committee member had opposed Paul’s appointment.
