Suresh Gopi under pressure to contest polls

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Suresh Gopi is under pressure to contest the assembly polls from the Thiruvananthapuram Central constituency in the capital city. As part of it, there are chances for the BJP central leadership to hold talks with him. Though the party had earlier requested him to contest the polls, the actor did not budge to it. He had briefed them that he is not interested in contesting but will be active in electioneering. Many leaders of the state wants the actor to contest the polls in the capital city. The party think his candidature will be able to give a tough contest. The state leaders had earlier spoken to him.

It is also hinted that party national chief Amit Shah, reaching the state today, may hold talks with him. Even if they don’t meet personally, they may have a telephonic conversation. However, the party leaders have not confirmed it. No party programmes have been fixed for Amit Shah reaching the state from Chennai Wednesday night. He is coming to the state to meet RSS activist Amal Krishna seriously injured in a clash at Kattaikkonam. He will leave the state by 9.30 pm. The state leaders are likely to meet him.
