THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sree Narayana Guru’s family member Chempazhanthi Thunduvila house Janardhanan (97) died on Saturday morning. He breathed his last at a private hospital here due to old age-related illness.
Janardhanan was Guru’s second sister Kochu’s daughter Janaki’s son. During the Second World War, he served in several countries, being a soldier in British army. Later he joined the State police. After retiring in 1974, he had been the manager of Sivagiri for some time. He lived the rest part of his life, writing poems and learning Guru’s writings.
At the age of eight, Janardhanan, for the first time, met Guru when he reached Chempazhanthi. When Guru attained Samadhi, he was 11 years.
The last rites will be performed on Chempazhanthi Thunduvila house premises at 10:30 am on March 21.
He is survived by wife Lalithabai, offspring Rajeevan (Abudubai), Sheela, Mohan (Dubai), Shaji (Dubai) and Dr Prakash (Cosmopolitan hospital). His son Babu had died earlier.
Sheeja, Jotsna, Sanjeev (Retired Under secretary, secretariat) Sajina and Smita are his children’s in laws.
