THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran CPM leader V S Achuthanandan has said that transferring State Bank of Travancore Chief General Manager S Adikesavan to settle scores is condemnable. The authorities should cancel the transfer order and retain him in Thiruvananthapuram.
“The bank employees have been strongly opposing the move to merge SBT and associate banks with the State Bank of India. This is an issue that should be discussed in detail for reaching a consensus. But SBI officials have been trying to treat with vengeance leaders who have been expressing their opposition to the merger. Adikesavan’s transfer is an example for this,” VS said.
Merger of bank is not only an issue of man’s survival. It is it is just a chance for backdoor entry of international capitalists. Employee organisations have been jointly trying to organise protests and strikes against such policies. The national strike to be held on September 2 has also been organised as part of this. People should come forward strongly to protest against bank’s apathy towards employees’ aspirations, the statement says.
