Friday, January 6, 2012: One person was killed in a road mishap that occurred near East Fort here on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Muraleedhran, (49), hailing from Nandancode, police told.The accident occurred when an over speeding tipper lorry collided with the bike in which he was travelling. Muraleedharan was thrown off from the bike and the lorry ran over him killing him instantly.
The local residents managed to apprehend the lorry driver and handed over him to the Fort police. The locals alleged that the police was trying to save the lorry driver which led to a minor scuffle.
