Temple treasure: Expert panel chief Ananda Bose removed

Thursday, January 05, 2012: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued a directive to replace National Museum former director C V Ananda Bose with conservationist M V Nair as the new chief of the Supreme Court committee to assess the valuables in the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple vaults.
A division bench consisting of Justices R M Lodha and A K Patnaik shifted him after considering Kerala Government’s plea requesting to shift him in the wake of his retirement. The state government had earlier withdrawn their decision of shifting him.
Additional Chief Secretary K Jayakumar would be the new nodal officer to liaise between the committee and the government.
The Court also lashed out at the state government as well as the temple administration for not providing the necessary security measures as instructed.
