Suspicious parcel explodes near T’puram Airport

Wednesday, January 11, 2012: A suspicious parcel found near a house premise near the Trivandrum International airport today exploded creating panic in the area on Wednesday morning.
The explosion took place just around 12.00, but did not cause any injuries, sources said. The local residents spent some anxious moments. Soon senior police officials and bomb disposal squads swung into action and inspected the area.
On further inspection the bomb squad officials have confirmed the presence of explosives in the parcel. Battery along with circuit parts were recovered from the blast site.
The police informed that the blast was well planned. Intelligence department has begun investigation into the incident.
