Hartal total in Kasargode

KASARGODE: The dawn to dusk hartal hailed by LDF on Fridayin in protest of the death of DYFI leader Manoj Kumar is total.


No stores were opened and the hartal has seriously affected attendance in schools and offices.


Manoj Kumar, president of the Ambangad Cheekanam unit of the DYFI, was killed in a clash between CPM and IUML activists at Ambangad near Uduma in Kasaragod district on Thursday.


DYFI alleged that Manoj Kumar was beaten and kicked to death by IUML activists while IUML leaders denied involvement of its activists in the attack.


A special investigation team under Kanghangad ASP Manjunath has been constituted to probe into the case.
