Party prepared to face onslaught, says Pinarayi

KANNUR: CPI (M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has alleged that the UDF Government, led by Oommen Chandy is experimenting new ways to destroy the party and the party is prepared to face all these attacks with the support of the public.


Talking to newsmen after visiting N Chandran, CPI (M) Kannur area Committee Secretary who is undergoing treatment at AKG Hospital here as he suffered serious injuries to his head following the police lathi charge on August 1, Pinarayi said whenever the Congress-led UDF Government came to power, they thought that police had enough power but CPI (M) had earlier prevented this with the support of public and it will continue in the future also. He also said that if the police continued to file cases against people in connection with protest marches, lakhs of cases would have to be filed against the party men.


Later, he visited the party office at Kannur, which was damaged by rivals.
