Policeman dies after Electric post falls on him

CHERUTHONI: A Civil Police Officer at Idukki police station died on Monday after an electric post fell on him, while he was riding a motorbike. He is identified as George (38), son of Varghese and Mary from Pandippara.

The incident happened at 12.30 pm at Alinchuvattil in Idukki. George was heading towards bank from police station. The electric lines got entangled in a truck coming from opposite direction which made the post fall on George.

George was taken to district hospital and later to a private hospital in Thodupuzha, but he died on the way. He is survived by wife Silja and two children, Albit (8) and Sipla (6).
