THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister A K Balan told the assembly that strict action would be taken against the guilty in the Wadakkancherry gang rape case. "The government has taken the incident seriously. A team led by Guruvaryur assistant commissioner is investigating the case," he replied on behalf of the chief minister.
Anil Akkara from the opposition sought permission for the adjournment motion. He said the police misled the government and gang rapes and goonda attacks are on the rise in the state.
The government is keeping mum on this issue, said opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. Peramangalam circle inspector should be suspended for saying that the woman was not gang raped. Not taking action against the circle inspector is suspicious. Following minister’s reply, the speaker denied permission for the motion. The Opposition staged a walk out to protest the incident.
