Balabhaskar’s driver Arjun flees, investigating team could not record statement

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Arjun, native of Thrissur suspected to have driven the vehicle when violinist Balabhaskar met with the accident, is hinted to have fled the place. The investigating team had asked his relatives to produce him, reported to have fled to Assam, at the office of the crime branch. The crime branch wants to question him in detail to bring a clarity on who drove the vehicle at the time of the accident.

In his statement to the local police, he had asserted that it was Balabhaskar who drove the car. However, Lakshmi, wife of the violinist and the person who reached the accident spot first, had revealed that Balabhaskar was in the back seat. The crime branch then started a probe to remove the mystery behind the incident. The probe was intensified again after the gold smuggling case in Thiruvananthapuram.

Meantime, the investigating team who reached the temple in Thrissur and the hotels he stayed, recorded the statement of the employees. They had revealed that it was Arjun who drove the car when Balabhaskar reached the temple and the lodge. Balabhaskar decided to stay in the lodge and denied the allegation that he returned soon after vacating the room. The employees said the room was booked only for the day and only the rent of that was charged from him.

The investigating team had confirmed that Balabhaskar had financial dealings with the doctor in Palakkad and Vishnu, absconding in the gold smuggling case. The crime branch team will question Prakash Thampy in jail today.
