THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has asked Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan to contest the Assembly election. He made this request during his meeting with VS on Tuesday morning
But VS reportedly told Yechury that he wanted to know about the stand of State leadership regarding his candidature. To that he replied he was speaking out the State leadership’s stand.
VS had earlier informed Yechury that he was not interested in contesting the election. He had said that he was not willing to take part in the poll fray as argument again resumed within the party over his candidature.
Meanwhile, State Secretariat meeting in the afternoon would discuss VS’ candidature in the election.
