Assembly adjourned for day on Balakrishna Pillai’s issue

Friday, September 30, 2011: The Kerala Assembly witnessed some uproarious scenes over R Balakrishna Pillai’s call to the media in connection with the attack on the teacher of Valakam.
The opposition LDF squatted on the floor of the house after chief minister refused to speak on it and when things got worse Speaker G Karthikeyan stopped the assembly proceedings.
The adjournment motion on the issue was moved by Mullakkara Ratnakaran of the CPI. He said channels telecasted the response of Pillai, undergoing jail term. He sought a CBI probe on the whole incident.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy while replying said south zone IG Padma Kumar will directly probe the incident. Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan said that the DySP entrusted to probe the incident is in good rapport with Pillai.
