HC stays probe into Chandy’s role in Palmolein case

Tuesday, September 27, 2011: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday stayed Thiruvananthapuram vigilance court’s order directing to probe the role of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the palmolein case, for a month.
Justice KT Sankaran delivered the order while considering the plea of Jiji Thomson, former civil supplies director and the fifth accused in the case.
The court directed to produce the case diary and the vigilance report acquitting Chandy in the case. The court also directed the government to produce the copies and order of the vigilance court seeking the role of Chandy in the case. The case will again be considered on October 17.
Thomson filed a plea challenging the vigilance judge’s order to re-investigate the palmolein import deal. He stated in the petition that he is not getting advancements in his posting only because this case is pending in the court.
