Congress distances itself from PC George’s complaint

Sunday, September 25, 2011: Congress party on Sunday distanced itself from government Chief whip P.C. George’s complaint against the Special Vigilance Judge P K Haneefa hearing the palmolein case.
Speaking to the reporters here on Sunday, Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran opined that Congress had always adopted an approach that upheld the law and respected and honoured the judiciary.
The party does not support any such action from any quarters whatsoever, he said. George had sent petitions to the Governor and the President raising allegations against the Vigilance judge who is hearing the Palmolein case.
The judge was deliberately trying to make Chief Minister Oommen Chandy an accused in the case, the letter alleged. George’s action has apparently embarrassed the Congress leadership.
