M K Muneer said BUDS Centers (Centre for mentally challenged children)
would be opened in all panchayats as schools were the need of the hour.
While inaugurating a BUDS Centre at Kolacherry Panchayat in this
district today, he said this was the eighth centre in Kannur District
and three more centers would be opened at Chockli, Kannapuram and
Kuttiyattor soon.
The Minister also said government has already opened BUDS Centers at Endosulfan affected Panchayaths in Kasargod District.
Minister said after the recognition received from the Education
Department, one school bus each would be provided from Kudumbasree
Project along with government grant to BUDS centers.
He said the government had given order to start palliative care
centers in all the panchayats but it was implemented in only 400
panchayats.
