Valakom victim’s kin alleges death threat

Tuesday, 1 November 2011: The Valakom victim Krishnakumar’s family has complained of death threat after a stranger reportedly tried to barge into the room at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College where he is currently under treatment.
Relatives also informed that they would lodge a complaint in the Medical college police station in connection with the incident. Krishnakumar was found in a serious condition on the roadside at Valakam in Kollam district in the wee hours of September 27.

Earlier report-
The victim’s wife Geetha, who is also a teacher in the same school owned by jailed ex-Minister R Balakrishna Pillai, had earlier alleged that the ongoing investigation was not at all satisfactory. She also added that her husband has, of late, been not on good terms with the school management.
Krishnakumar was involved in a running battle with the school management and is the prime witness in a vigilance case against it for irregularities. His wife Geetha became headmistress of the school after winning a court case against the management.
The statement that was earlier recorded by Judicial Magistrate AM Ashraf was handed over before the Kottarakkara first class judicial magistrate Court, sources said. The teacher’s statement was video graphed and the Magistrate had also collected the details from the Kottarakkara Dy SP who is probing the incident.
Meanwhile the police team investigating the Valakom incident is now probing the possibilities of a road accident in which Krishnakumar might have sustained serious injuries.
The teacher who was found injured in the Valakom incident may have been hit by a vehicle, the police said. The team is probing whether it was just a road accident or whether somebody had deliberately hit him.
