Aranmula Airport should be materialized: P.J. Kurien

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, P. J. Kurien, said on Saturday that some people who sold up agricultural lands and migrated to urban areas are against Aranmula Airport, and that he is not going to reveal their identities. Aranmula Airport should be materialized. He was taking at Meet the Press in Thiruvananthapuram Press Club.

Kurien said majority of the Keralites working in Gulf countries are from Pathanamthitta district. About 500 people arrive at and depart from Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi airports daily. A large number of vehicles rush to theses airports which results in pollution. Once Aranmula airport is materialized, the ecological problems could be solved and also the NRIs could save at least Rs 5000 which they lose by hiring vehicles, he said.

The airport will also help the development of tourism, and development of temples at Aranmula and Sabarimala in Pathanamathitta districts, Kurien said.
