Kannur University registrar suspended



KANNUR: Registrar of the Kannur University and Chief security officer A V Hareendranath was suspended for failing in arranging necessary measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the Syndicate meeting of the university. The syndicate meetings are obstructed by various staffs organizations controlled by CPI (M) and SFI at several times since last six months. The SFI activists barged into the syndicate meeting hall and damaged files, microphones and distracted the meeting.

Later Kannapuram Police used small force to remove the SFI activists and arrested seven SFI activists in this connection. The Syndicate had given instructions to the registrar to obtain an order from High Court of Kerala to conduct the meeting, but the registrar failed to follow up actions. Meanwhile, the college union elections would be held on October 5 between 0930 to 1230 and the result would be declared in the evening. The college union election was postponed from the earlier date following a High court order, a university release said.
