Swetha Menon delivers a baby girl in front of camera

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: “My happiness has no limits”. Mollywood actress Swetha Menon was on cloud nine on Thursday lying at the labour room of the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai for two reasons—one, as she has been blessed with a baby girl, and two, her pregnancy period including delivery has been captured by the cameras directed by renowned filmmaker Blessy for the film Kalimannu.

There were no ‘actions’, ‘cuts’ or ‘retakes’ for the “labour room” shoot. But the camera installed by cameraman Jibu captured the pains amidst joy of Swetha as she was slowly being transformed into a mother. Clock said 5.26 pm when she delivered her baby girl. That moment itself the little Swetha became a part of the film as well.

Swetha’s husband Sreevalsan Meno and her parents T.V. Narayanan Kutty and Sarada were at the hospital with her.

Swetha was more than six months pregnant when she gave a nod to Blessy to make a film highlighting on her various stages of pregnancy. She had said then "The sufferings, every moment a pregnant woman facing should be known by the partner and I am taking this opportunity to make proper use of it to make people aware of a mother's sacrifice. When a woman is carrying, the society treats her like a patient. This is injustice. So both of us are taking this opportunity to oppose this practice of society."

It was two years ago that Blessy planned the movie that showcased conversation between a mother and foetus.
