Bhaskaran remanded to 14 days judicial custody



KANNUR:  Mattanur Municipality Chairman K Bhaskaran, who is also husband of K K Shylaja, State unit Secretary of Janathya Pathya Mahila Association (AIDWA), was sent to Kannur Central jail. He was arrested in connection with the attack on Mattanur police station and police aid post following a CPI (M) state level hartal to protest against the arrest of CPI (M) district secretary P Jayarajan in Shukkoor murder case on August 2 last. Police said Bhaskaran came to Mattanur Police station in the morning and surrendered.

He was produced before Mattanur JFCM who remanded him 14 days judicial custody. Police said Bhaskaran was fourth and second accused respectively in two cases. Mattanur Municipality Council election was held on September 4 and he became chairman on September 15. He won with 281 votes from Perincheri Ward and CPI (M) led LDF retained the Mattanur Municipality, consecutively fourth time by claiming 20 out of 34 seats. Meanwhile, Magistrate T P Anil Kumar of Kannur JFCM-2 gave permission to IUML activist P P Badusha of Mayyil, who was remanded at sub jail, in connection with attacking a club (Red star recreation club), which was controlled by CPI(M) at Mayyil on August 2, to write the whole plus two examination in Valapatnam higher secondary school.
