K Bhaskaran heads Mattannur municipality

KANNUR: CPM candidate K Bhaskaran was elected chairman of Mattannur municipality.

He secured 19 votes against 13 votes grabbed by his opponent Prasanth from Congress.

Out of the 34 seats in Mattannur, 20 are for LDF and 14 for UDF.

The election of the chairperson took place on Saturday in the municipal office.

Bhaskaran’s vote became spoilt as he forgot to put his name and signature in the ballot paper.

A councillor of League also got his vote invalid.

Bhaskaran declared that the new committee will focus on the development of roads.
