KUWJ seeks PM's intervention in Wage Board implementation


KOCHI: The Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) Thursday sought intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the implementation of Majithia Wage Board for journalists and non-journalists working in media industry.

Welcoming the Prime Minister and other dignitaries at the inauguration of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Conference of the KUWJ here, its president K C Rajagopal also asked the Centre to take steps to speed up the disposal of cases regarding the Wage Board, pending before the Supreme Court.

He also requested the Centre to amend the Working Journalists Act so as to include those working in the electronic media also under its purview.

KUWJ also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister in this regard.
