Much married woman Shahanaz finally lands in police net


CHENNAI: The much married woman has finally landed in the police net. The elusive woman, Shahanaz, who cheated a several men of jewels and money, by marrying was arrested by a special team of Chennai Police at Bangalore in Karnataka last night. Police said acting on specific inputs, the woman was arrested near the Majestic bus Terminus in the Garden city. She was brought to Chennai this morning. After interrogating her at the Adyar Police station, she was produced before a Magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. She was later lodged in Puzhal Central prison.

The modus operandi of the woman, hailing from Pathanamthitta, who had already separated from her husband, was to lure men, marry them and take money and jewels from them, before ditching them one after the other. Sources said Shahanaz had married more than a dozen men and cheated nearly 20 men after collecting jewels and money with a promise of marrying them and then ditching them one after the other. "Shahanaz sweet-talked several men into tying the knot, got hold of their savings in cash and jewels, and quietly deserted them. The unsuspecting men did not have an inkling of the woman's plans until their riches were stolen by her," police sources said.
