SN Trust budget lays emphasis on education sector


ALAPPUZHA: The Sree Narayana Trust budget has given emphasis on the development of education sector. The annual general body meeting gave approval to budget which amounts to Rs. 62.23 crore.  

The budget foresees the infrastructural and quality development of eight unaided colleges, unaided Law College at Kollam and Polytechnic at Cherthala.

The budget was presented by the Trust secretary, Vellappally Natesan, at the 59th annual general meeting.

A sum of Rs.11.8 crore has been set aside for new educational institutions. An amount of Rs. 8 crore is set aside for the private law college in Kollam, the foundation laying ceremony of which is on September 10. The first batch comprising 30 students will commence this year itself.

One crore rupees has been set aside for starting eight unaided colleges at various places including Idukki. One crore rupees each is meant for new CBSE central schools and higher secondary schools.

An amount of Rs. 80 lakh has been earmarked for Polytechnic at Cherthala and Rs. 20 lakh for renovation of various colleges.

A sum of Rs. 29.36 crore has been earmarked for repairing those hospitals under the Trust, Rs.30 lakh for NAAC Accreditation, Rs. 75 lakh for women’s hostels, and Rs.50 lakh for erecting institutions for various purposes.
