Cardiac surgeries to resume at Pariyaram

KANNUR: The Pariyaram Medical College management has decided to resume cardiac surgeries at the Sahakarana Hrudayalaya attached to the hospital. Heart operations in the Hrudayalaya had been stalled because of the strike by cardiac surgeons and the subsequent termination of senior cardiothoracic surgeon Kuldeep Kumar and cardiac anesthetist Prashanth.

A press release issued by the Hrudayalaya said that dates for cardiac surgery of 28 patients had been fixed. Patients registered for cardiac surgery should contact the Hrudayalaya administrator for dates. In view of the increasing number of patients, heart operations would be conducted on Saturdays and Sundays also, the press release said. Prashanth Surendran, a senior cardiothoracic surgeon, would examine patients in the out-patient wing from 2 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
