Govt’s ‘early morning operation’ in Vilappilasala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government conducted an ‘early morning operation’ in Vilappilsala. They had to carry out the operation after criticised by the Kerala High Court on the garbage issue. The machinery for the leachate treatment plant was transported to Vilappilsala early morning at 2.30 am.

The secret operation started early morning and within an hour the machinery was brought to the plant. A large contingent of police led by three DySPs escorted the machinery. Even though the government tried to transport the machinery two months before as per the directive of the Kerala High Court, they had to withdraw from it following stiff resistance with the residents of the area. The government took the hasty step after they were criticised by the court again.

The residents led by Vilappil panchayat president Shobana Kumari reached the place after knowing about the operation. A dawn to dusk hartal is being observed in the area in protest against government’s action.
