Chandy urged to ease restriction on tanker lorry movement

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  Tanker lorry operators in Kerala urged Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to take a decision to ease the restricted operation of tanker lorries in the state. They also met top government officials and ministers to discuss the difficulties faced by tanker lorry operators, due to the restrictions put in place following the recent accident at Chalai in Kannur.

Meanwhile, the chief minister made it clear that responsibility for taking appropriate decisions on the movement of tanker lorries would be taken by collectors and police chief. At the same time the government would not yield to any demand that would put the life of people in peril, the chief minister said.
