Norms for education loans by BPL students accepted


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The guidelines to pay the simple interest of the educational loans, taken by BPL students during 2004-2009, have been accepted by the government.

Briefing on cabinet decisions here, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the interest of the loans taken by students after 2009 would be remitted in the banks by Central Government for BPL category.

The contract service period of 68 staffs of Milma who became permanent after November one, 2006, should be added to their total service so as to avail benefits during retirement.

It has been decided to re-establish the 48 posts at Kundara Clay and Ceramics. Administrative sanction has been given to provide Rs 13.25 crore to construct hostel at NISH, Thiruvananthapuram. Decision has been taken to provide UGC scale of pay to eligible teachers at Ayurvedic Medical Colleges with effect from January one, 2006. The Government has given representation to Governor to reduce the imprisonment of persons in relation to the Kerala Piravi Day.
