VS Achuthanandan demands rollback of milk price hike

Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has demanded a roll back of Milma decision to hike prices of milk and cattle feeds.

The price of Milma milk was raised by Rs 5 per litre and the new price will come into effect from Sunday onwards. The decision was taken by the director board of Milma. Achuthanandan demanded that Milma should disclose the details of overall milk procurement from Kerala.

The Milma said the other day that it wouldn’t be collecting any profit from the increased prices.

About 92 per cent of the profits from the price rise will go to dairy farmers who will get Rs 4.60.

While the agents will get 20 paise an equal amount will go to dairy co-operative organisations.

The price of cattle feeds also has gone up from Rs 650 to Rs 850 per bag that weighs 50 kg and Achuthanandan demanded that his should also be rolled back as it would put farmers in hardship.
