Chandy backs Ibrahim

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has come to the fore justifying the sensational statement of Minister V K Ibrahim Kunju.

Briefing reporters after the weekly cabinet meet, Chandy said, “There is nothing wrong in his statement. Only the first part of the speech was released. He delivered the speech at the party meeting and not at a public function. The Muslim League is a part of the ruling front. So, they should behave responsibly in order to achieve their goal. The minister made the statement while trying to make the people believe his responsible attitude.”

The minister may have cautiously made the speech keeping in mind the repeated incidents happened in Kozhikode and Kannur district meetings of the League.

Chandy said that he had held discussions with League general secretary KPA Majeed on the issue. The UDF is united. The congress has never acted supreme with other allied parties, he said.
