Case registered against 10 Naval Officers

KOCHI: The Harbour police on Wednesday registered a case against 10 naval officers including a commodore belonging to Southern Naval Command in Kochi after the Lieutenant Colonel Ravi Kiran's wife Sujatha filed a complaint alleging that her husband had wanted her to yield to the superior officers’ wishes in order to get promotion.

Meanwhile, the Naval Command in a press note informed that it was just a family quarrel.

Sujatha, hailing from Orissa, alleged that she was sexually abused several times. When she told her husband that she would disclose the matter, her husband and the officers sedated her and locked her up in a room.

Sujatha has also filed a divorce case against Ravi Kiran. He approached the High Court and submitted plea for anticipatory bail.

Later, Sujatha told media persons that she receives death threat for filing the complaint. She alleged that the Naval Command is trying to destroy the evidence.

The Southern Naval Command is one of the three main formations of the Indian Navy. It has its HQ in Kochi at INS Venduruthy.
