Papers stolen; exam postponed


MANJERI: The Director of Technical Education Department, Dr. J. Latha informed at Thiruvananthapuram on Monday that the Second Year Accountancy examination of Diploma in Secretarial Practice course has been postponed following the detection of theft of question papers at Government Commercial Institute here on Monday.

The examination which was scheduled on Tuesday was to be conducted by Joint Controller of Technical Examination.

The institute runs inside the compound of Govt. Technical High School. The theft was identified when employees found the lock on the grill of the institute broken in the morning. The almirah where the question papers were kept was opened with the key kept inside the cupboard at the room of Superintendent.

The Manjeri Police examined the almirah and demanded the details of students attending the examination. It is not confirmed yet whether the papers were stolen on Saturday or Sunday.

About 800 candidates are appearing for examination to be held at 17 centres in Kerala.
