Power tariff hiked in state


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The power regulatory commission announced the decision to hike the power tariff in the state. The new charge will come into effect from Wednesday (May 1).

Domestic consumers consuming 40 units monthly will have to pay Rs 1.50 ps per unit, Rs2.20 ps per unit for those consuming between 41-80 units, Rs 3 per unit consuming between 81-120 units, Rs 3.80 ps per unit will have to be paid for those consuming between 121-150 units, Rs 5.30 ps between 151-200 units, 6.50 ps for those using between 201-300 units.

Slab system has been excluded for those consuming above 300 units.

Rs 5 will have to be paid per unit for those consuming between 300-350 units. Rs 6 will have to be paid per unit consuming between 351-400 units. Those consuming more than 500 units will have to pay Rs 7 per unit.

The charge of power used by industrialists has also been increased.
