Rahul in Kerala to learn about panchayath raj

THRISSUR:  Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi arrived here Tuesday to learn about Kerala's experience in panchayath raj system.

After a brief reception by Youth Congress leaders at the Kochi airport, the Congress leader drove to Thrissur where he would be attending an academic session at the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA).

The institute, which imparts theoretical and practical training to civic body members and officials on decentralised development from within and outside the state, would be making a 90-minute presentation for Gandhi, KILA Director P P Balan said.

This would be followed by an interaction between Gandhi and selected panchayath members and officials from different parts of the state.

Later in the day, Gandhi is likely to interact with state Youth Congress functionaries.
