Chandy’s visit to Delhi irks Sonia Gandhi

NEW DELHI: Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi are annoyed with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for his visit to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is heard that the two have denied permission to Chandy to meet them.

Chandy had planned to visit the Prime Minister after meeting A K Antony, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

The party leadership had earlier directed Congress chief ministers not to attend the swearing-in-ceremony of Narendra Modi. The congress leadership had expressed displeasure on Mizoram Chief Minister for attending the swearing in ceremony of Modi. Oommen Chandy is the first Congress Chief Minister reaching to meet Modi.

Chandy thought the leadership would be happy to meet him and would congratulate him for the party’s win in Kerala.  He never thought meeting Modi would annoy the two.

Chandy visited Antony at 9 am Monday morning. Cabinet reshuffle is his main aim. The chief minister is keen in accommodating K B Ganesh Kumar. However, KPCC chief V M Sudheeran and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala are against it. Anyway, a decision will be taken only after meeting the party president.
