TALASSERY: One Rajendran, 49, from Kolasseri was arrested by police, who raided his house as part of Operation Kubera. He was carrying Rs 40 lakh at the time of the arrest.
Rajendran was earlier an auto driver. Promissory notes and blank cheques were recovered from his house. Talassery Judicial First Class Magistrate court has remanded the accused.
Police cleverly trapped him after they were tipped-off about his illegal business. The arrest took place while he was retuning home after collecting Rs 40 lakh from one of his customers.
Police said he had lent Rs 9 lakh for a bakery owner and took back around Rs 1 crore probably as interest and loan amount.
