Main accused in child trafficking case held

PALAKKAD: The special wing of the crime branch arrested the main accused suspected behind the trafficking of children from other states to the orphanages in Kerala. The arrested has been identified as Zakkir Ahamed of Jharkhand.

Ahamed was engaged as a crusher employee in Walancherry, Kunnamkkulam for the past few years. He was arrested after calling him to Palakkad. He trafficked these children to the state without any valid documents.

Initial reports say he has trafficked more than 200 children and that too after paying an amount for it.

He is being questioned following reports that he has trafficked children to orphanages in Kozhikode, now in controversy and Malappuram earlier.
