AMMA's bylaw amendment postponed; Resigned members can follow procedure to come back, says Mohanlal

KOCHI: The amendment to the bylaw of AMMA has been postponed temporarily. AMMA president Mohanlal said that a decision on making amendments to the rules of the association will be taken after more discussion.

“Nobody has opposed reforming the association rules. There is a chance to write more opinions. A decision in this regard will be taken later,” he said.

“Parvathy Thiruvoth, Shammi Thilakan, and Revathy have voiced their opinions which will be considered. The members who have resigned didn’t apply for membership. There are no objections against them coming back. They can follow the procedure to come back to the association”, Mohanlal added.

The executive body meeting held on Saturday had discussed regarding amending the rules of A.M.M.A and a new set of rules were prepared. Sunday’s general body meeting discussed these new set of rules. Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) members Parvathy and Revathi participated in the general body meeting and presented their directions.

WCC said that further discussion is necessary on the amendment and the protest will be addressed in writing.

The amendment discussions were initiated after the assault on the actress. WCC criticized that no actions were taken to prevent such things from happening.

WCC pointed out that the draft was prepared as per the interests of the executive committee. They added that the law should be amended to provide job security and some suggestions are against the bylaw and democracy.

There was criticism regarding women representation and the return of actresses to AMMA who resigned.
