Minister M.M Mani’s request to pray for rain becomes viral

ERNAKULAM: Electricity minister M.M Mani’s latest speech urging people of all religious groups to pray for rain has become viral. The minister was speaking after inaugurating freshwater supply schemes in Paalakkuzha panchayat.

During his speech, the minister was quoted saying, “All of you should pray for abundant rainfall, or else conditions will worsen. People belonging to all religions may pray together so that there won’t be any deficiency in rain”. However, the minister also added that he won’t be praying as he strictly follows communist principles.

The minister’s speech was well-received by the social media and many interpreted that the minister was making fun of religious people in the name of rain. It must be noted that Minister Mani is often known for his witty remarks and sarcastic comments.

Earlier, KSEB officials had made it clear that the state won’t be facing power crisis till the end of this month despite low rainfall.
