Manju Warrier fails to fulfil promise, legal services authority sends notice

ALPETTA: The district legal services authority has sent a notice to actress Manju Warrier on the complaint of cheating after promising to build houses for adivasi families. The actress has been asked to appear in person at the Wayanad Legal Services Authority office on Monday.

The adivasis complaint is that Manju Warrier Foundation had promised to build houses for 57 families of Parakkuni Colony of Panamaram panchayat. The residents of the colony complained that they have not complied with it yet. The actress promised to build houses for them in 2017.

The floods in 2018 had caused extensive damage in the area. The colony residents said that after she promised to build houses for them, the government and panchayat officials denied all help for them.

Manju Warrier Foundation had earlier informed Legal Service Authority to either renovate the houses or an amount of Rs 10 lakh would be given to the families’ altogether. The colony residents did not accept this. Following that, the authority directed the actress to appear directly.
